History of the Pyramid Model in Massachusetts | History of the Pyramid Model in Massachusetts Background State fiscal year 2016 marked the seventh year of the Massachusetts Pyramid Model Partnership. The Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL) was funded by the Office of Head Start and the Child Care Bureau, Administration for Children and Families, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to provide training and technical assistance to selected partnership states. Based on previous state collaboration efforts, Massachusetts was chosen to participate in this 3 year opportunity to work with national CSEFEL faculty to promote the Pyramid Model, a conceptual model of evidence-based practices for promoting young children’s social and emotional competence and for preventing and addressing challenging behavior. When the formal partnership with CSEFEL concluded, the Massachusetts Pyramid Partnership State Leadership Team (SLT) continued to move forward in building the capacity of infant and early childhood practitioners and family members to nurture young children’s social and emotional development. The Pyramid Model continues to thrive through the creation of the Pyramid Model Consortium http://www.pyramidmodel.org/. Massachusetts is now a Pyramid Model Consortium Partner State.
