CSEFEL Coaches Take Part in Two-Day Training

March 2, 2010 By

As the training partner in Massachusetts’ statewide rollout of the Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning Pyramid Model (CSEFEL), Connected Beginnings is pleased to be coordinating training and support for CSEFEL Coaches. These Coaches will play a central role in helping the CSEFEL model “come to life” in three demonstration sites: Boston, Worcester and Deerfield.

In preparation for their work with the three demonstration sites, the first cohort of Massachusetts Coaches will complete a two day Coaches’ Training, coordinated by Connected Beginnings and led by Dr. Neal Horen, a clinical child psychologist and Associate Director of Training for the National Training Institute on Effective Practices. Dr. Horen works with states and communities on building systems of care for young children and their families. Among the training topics on tap for the Coaches will be methodology for describing and documenting program change over time.

Building system-wide capacity through CSEFEL Trainers and Coaches is a key aspect of Massachusetts’ two multi-year Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) grants, Project Launch and MyChild. In the coming years additional CSEFEL coaches will complete training to enable them to provide targeted consultation to infant and early childhood programs utilizing evidence-based strategies to support children’s social and emotional development. Connected Beginnings is delighted to be a partner in this important project.
