This module will provide an overview of formative assessment with a specific focus on Teaching Strategies Gold. Participants will examine the role of formative assessment in early childhood settings and discuss the necessary knowledge and skills for conducting authentic, valid and reliable assessment processes. Participants will engage in hands on learning focusing on how to implement classroom observations, documentation and coding of children’s development from birth through age six. Additionally they will examine the foundations, purpose and components of Teaching Strategies Gold as well as an overview of the tools application.
Applicants to this course should have completed the Teaching Strategies Gold Basic course. This course is offered through the Center for Assessment and Screening Excellence.
