Infant-Parent Training Institute Application Period Extended | June 15, 2009

June 18, 2009 By

The Infant-Parent Training Institute has a limited number of openings in its 2009-2010 Infant-Parent Mental Health Fellowship and Infant Observation Course . This intensive training program in infant mental health is designed for interdisciplinary professionals.

The two year Infant-Parent Mental Health Fellowship offers integrated clinical and theoretical training in parent-infant mental health and is appropriate for those who would like to enhance their clinical practice by integrating the principles of infant mental health and infant development into their work. The Fellowship’s first year provides a theoretical foundation in the development of the parent-infant relationship, as well as an integrative seminar, focused on the application of the theoretical material to a range of practice settings (including Early Intervention, home visiting programs, hospitals, outpatient and private mental health practices). The Fellowship meets on alternate Friday mornings; 9:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. from September to June. First year Fellows may also take the Infant Observation course.

Fellows who currently work in Massachusetts Early Intervention or Early Education and Care programs are eligible to apply for scholarship support (for the Fellowship only) through Connected Beginnings Training Institute. Connected Beginnings has awarded scholarships to five IPTI fellows in the past three years. These “Connected Beginnings Scholars” meet regularly with Connected Beginnings leadership staff to translate and integrate their infant mental health training into their work in infant and early childhood programs in their home communities. For more information about The Infant-Parent Training Institute course offerings, visit the Infant-Parent Training Institute website  or contact Judy Semonoff, LICSW, Faculty Coordinator for the Infant Parent Training Institute.
