Education in Nature Professional Development Workshop

May 3, 2017 By C Wakely

Wheelock College and Kroka Expeditions invite experienced and aspiring educators to join a four-day Education in Nature Professional Development program at the Kroka campus in Marlow, New Hampshire.

The purpose is to give educators first-hand experience in the outdoors in a safe and invigorating environment and allow them to explore with other educators ways to bring nature into their curriculum. Research shows that experiencing nature affords a sense of calm, well-being, and self-regulation which in turn affects social emotional health and promotes learning.

Educators will participate in the daily farm life at Kroka, experience wilderness adventure activities with seasoned leaders, and have time for reflection and discussion on how this experience is influencing their own perspectives on learning, and in turn how this experience can be brought to students of all ages. Education in Nature affords a rich opportunity to extend curriculum to science, environmental education, social studies, humanities, writing, leadership, and community building.

When: July 5 – 8, 2017
Who: Teachers of any level
Where: Kroka Campus, Marlow, NH
Cost: $700 (all-inclusive)
CEUs and PDPs available.
