Connected Beginnings’ CSEFEL Pyramid Model Training Sequence

July 25, 2013 By

CBTI has been considering lessons learned from being the training arm of the Massachusetts CSEFEL Pyramid Model Partnership and from other CSEFEL partner states across the country in order to develop a sequential approach to training on the Pyramid Model. The training sequence is focused on building knowledge and skill in a variety of early childhood professionals in direct service to young children and families, full program implementation, as well as training Pyramid Model Trainer s or Coaches.

In this effort, the new CSEFEL Pyramid Model Train-the-Trainer, developed by CBTI in 2012, was piloted this spring with a new cohort of professionals. The new training, presented by Lizzie McEnany and Mary Watson Avery, was well received, and marks another step in Massachusetts’ development of an approach to the Pyramid Model that reflects the unique needs and expertise of the Commonwealth.

CBTI has also been creating a new course focused on the top of the Pyramid: Intensive Interventions. This 15-hour course, set to be piloted across the state in the autumn of 2013, guides practitioners in the development of early childhood positive behavior support plans, with a special emphasis on responsive caregiving, data-based decision making, and strategies for family engagement.

In the coming months, we look forward to creating two additional trainings on the Pyramid Model. One will be focused on work in with preschoolers and the second will explore the Pyramid Model approach with Infant and Toddlers. Both of these trainings are being planned as 6-hour experiences.
